Re: The truth is out on gun control

FBI crime stats are out.
Violent crime for 2009 lowest in decades.
Murder, rape, armed robbery all lower than 2008, which was a previous LOW point for the decade.
Concealed carry is LEGAL in more than half of the states, more personally own firearms in the hands of US citizens than ever before in history, VIOLENT CRIME rate IS DROPPING RAPIDLY.

Re: The truth is out on gun control

Here's the thing. We have a lot of gun owners in America that are not political and they get their news from CNN or MSNBC. You won't see this info on either network and some won't believe anything they see on FOX because they are "Biased." Gun owners that supported Obama are usually the least informed on the subject of gun control.
Fighting more gun control is an uphill battle because we are largely preaching to the choir. As for Liberal gun owners, they keep sending Lefty anti gunners to Capital Hill without holding them accountable. I hear from(and work with) a lot of gun loving Dems. They vote strictly along party lines and as long as the candidate says something about hunting they mindlessly line up in support.
Again, it's an uphill battle but joining the NRA helps. Spreading these videos helps and simply taking an uniformed non shooter to the range helps.

It must be contagious, because that's what this video makes me want to do too.

I think the NRA membership list will end up being the list they use when they come to confiscate. GOA is better, but they have a list too. What we need is decentralization.

Perhaps true the bad about both the NRA & the GOA but....You know I feel something is better than nothing. Also it is required in order to use the ranges in many places due to the insurance etc.

This is how I feel about being a member of the NRA, and it's also why I have not applied for a concealed weapons permit. Something in my gut tells me not to.

Why not use old subversion techniques for IANSA. Send them a request for information. Get on their mailing list. Do it 100 times. Do it 1000 times with fake names. Get your friends to do it. Strain the resources.

I know of one unnamed organization which sent me 1000s of color glossy magazines and other materials without a hope of ever seeing a dime of donation.

One dude does it, then no big deal. If 1000 folks do it.... It makes a difference. They will sending out information packets.

Same type of thing works great on phone donations and drives. I'll just talk to them for a while. An hour here and there eats up their time, distracting them from the goal. Every dime you keep them from earning is a win.

I really enjoy those odd sales calls and political contribution calls on Fridays after I've had a few. The wife will ask me, "Who are you talking to?" LOL

Seek out and purchase as many rifles from other individuals as possible, unregistered, of course. Also stock up on ammo. There are many rumors that govt wants to impose 500% ammo tax. Any/all ammo will be an excellent investment in years to come.

Trust and believe you'll know what you to do when the time comes.

No group annoucement will be needed.

Every peice of jacked up legisaltion has happened WITH THE FULL BLESSING of the NRA .

EVERY.
SINGLE.
PIECE.

They are the text book example of The Heglian Dialectic.

Someone has laundry list of of the NRA "accomplishments" since its inception I wish I could dig it up because it was so damming.

Take a Liberal shooting. Convert their base. You and I know how much fun shooting is but there is a large portion of our population that buys into the whole "Drunken hunter" scenario from The Deer Hunter. They still believe that Glocks can be carried through metal detectors and all of our "Assault Weapons" are full auto.
Sure, you won't change their minds overnight but you may get them to eventually buy a gun and pay attention to the lies told by their candidates. Once they realize they are being lied to then it's up to them to decide whether or not their whole philosophy is built on quicksand.

A person from the NRA called me the other day wanting me to join. I ended up having to yell at the guy over the phone. He didn't seem to want to take NO for an answer.

This is also a very good idea!

I just found out that a good friend of mine went shooting with her husband a few weeks ago for the first time. I am so happy to hear about her experience. She was surprised about how "professional" the employees and the patrons were at the range.

Any time something is required, it is suspect. To me, it means that you are being forced to make a decision you don't want to make, or you are being socially engineered somehow.:36_1_30:

Well in this case I dont think it is anything so diabolical.

It is the same as health insurance through a company or perhaps fleet insurance on vehicles would be a better comparison & could be blamed more so on our lawsuit happy country.

Most ranges would have to close if they had to buy liability insurance on their own. But due to the size of the NRA they are able to buy insurance that is affordable.

Of course it would be nicer if we had a society that did not indulge so heavily in frivolous lawsuits but,,,,,,,,,, It is what it is. I would not like to see all the ranges closing due to unacceptable liability for the land owner etc.

Good point. The only reason why I am a NRA member is to gain access to 2 ranges. I don't like the NRA in general and also am a GOA member and I wish the ranges in question would accept GOA membership, as an option to the NRA. I don't worry too much about the conspiracy theories on the NRA, if I stopped my membership today, they still know who I am and where I am. I refuse to live in fear.

LOLz at that poster. Is that a serious poster?

"Terrorists don't register their guns: Are you a Terrorist?"

You have got to be kidding me. Davy Crocket wouldn't have registered his guns either. Would Davy Crocket be a terrorist?
